Max Steuer

I was born in New York City, educated at Bowdoin College, Maine, Columbia University, and the London School of Economics where I have been on the staff since 1959.

Amongst my many interests I was a hot air balloonist with World Records for Altitude, Distance and Duration 1984. I am also a keen musician and play bass guitar, and produced and wrote the script for the feature film “The Committee”.

Currently I am Reader Emeritus in the Economics Department, London School of Economics;
I was Co-Director, Centre for Philosophy of Natural and Social Science, London School of Economics; and Programme Associate, Cities Programme, London School of Economics;
I am still a Part-time lecturer, Department of Philosophy, Logic and Scientific Method, London School of Economics.

In July 2023 I was made an Honorary Fellow of LSE
